Predatory forest animals, whether they are insects, spiders, litterhoppers, native snails, birds or bats, depend on other bush animals for their food.

The forest floor is the lowest layer where it is dark, hot, and damp. In a way, they help to spread the tree density in the rainforest by dropping the seeds via their feces/dung. Only two per cent of sunlight gets through the thick canopy trees and understorey plants to reach the forest floor.
